What is the result of combining unlimited computing power, a zealous desire to manipulate all but the elite humans, and a morally crippled mathematical genius? Unfettered anarchy! Can the ever-growing torrent of information, analyzed by sophisticated computer systems, neutralize freedoms of choice, then steer us into a predetermined destination?
Unidentified power mongers are plotting massive destabilization of the stock market, with the end game to not only optimize their wealth, but to also control the future. No need to cut a nervous investor off in traffic to initiate a stock market crash. All you need is unlimited computer power and the ethical nihilism to manipulate lives.
The R-Group, a high-level information gathering and security team, believes at least one group – possibly several – are using Big Data analysis to customize the future to their image. Jacob, Petra, EZ, Quip, and the rest of the R-Group battle along with Julie and Juan’s fledgling group of Cyber Assassin Technology Services teams to locate the source of the massive computing power required. Could these cyber schemers be as good at analyzing the information as the R-Group themselves?
Unless the R-Group can neutralize this unrelenting threat, humanity’s future will be determined by a select few. Are people unwittingly feeding an ever-growing tsunami of information into increasingly sophisticated computer systems? This begs the question: who controls whom?
Award-winning authors Breakfield and Burkey bring the fifth book in The Enigma Series, The Enigma Stolen, into the relevant world of Big Data and analytics. Can all the information available provide a reliable method of predicting the future? Who are the winners when humans are herded to a machine’s targeted end point?

Breakfield is a renowned technology solutions architect with 25+ years of experience in security, hybrid data/telecom environments, and unified communications enjoys leveraging his professional skills in these contemporary TechnoThriller stories. His love of World War II history from multiple viewpoints, extensive world travel, and cultural exchanges are a part of his DNA. Charles’ love of wine tastings, cooking, and Harley riding has found ways into the nine books of The Enigma Series. Being the son of a military father allowed early exposure to various outposts, which has positively contributed to Charles contributions to many characters and the various character perspectives explored.

As a child she helped to lead the other kids with exciting new adventures built on make believe characters which she brings to the stories in a grown up manner. Rox enjoys family, listening to people, any kind of travel, sewing, gourmet cooking, and imagining the possibilities.

Relevant technology is combined with travel, romance, intrigue, mystery, and humor design for each book to be enjoyed alone or in sequence. Reviewers have positively compared Breakfield and Burkey to the works of Tom Clancy and Clive Custer which are some of their influencers.
The nine books currently in the series include The Enigma Factor, Rising, Ignite, Wraith, Stolen, Always, Gamers, Broker, and Dragon have received awards individually as a series, and audio books. They have also created some award winning short stories including one for The Enigma Chronicles focused on how one of the founding family was fractured due to the greed for information superiority.

With this last book I listened to in the series I found myself completely in awe of the things these authors did with the storyline and characters! It became a scary thriller about technology and how it can easily ruin lives if we go too far. I had a bunch of fun with this novel and felt like all the characters were fully developed along the way. I give it a 5/5 stars!

The narrator did an excellent job as well. I appreciate that they suck theoigh the series to the end. All the voices felt distinct in this novel and I enjoyed each character’s voice! No studio production errors from what I could tell. I give it a 5/5 stars as well.
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by MK Marketing. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
